New Years, Resolved....From Good To Great
I don't know about you, but I personally couldn't wait to stick a fork in 2011 and cash in on the promises of 2012. Now that the new year is officially here I'm ready to move forward and accomplish some new and aggressive goals.For about the entire week leading up to new year's eve my wife has been asking me if I had any new years resolutions for 2012. My answer until this morning has been, "no." But today I woke up with a brand new sense of determination and purpose.
Every year as far back as I can remember I would take time on New Year's to reflect on the previous year. I'd think about all the things I tried to accomplish and inevitably I found myself focusing on the goals that I didn't achieve. Quite a depressing exercise that often led me to belittle the accomplishments that I had in fact experienced.
This year has been different on many levels. Yes, 2011 was an incredibly challenging year. But as we watched the new year countdown with tens of thousands of people who flooded Miami's Bayside last night I found myself thinking back on all the blessings that I experienced in 2011 and for the first time in a long time I'm actually extremely positive about everything and I have one resolution:
To go from "good" to "great".

It's quite astounding how this simple and unassuming phrase spoken by a television marketing figure could totally embody such a profound and deeply motivating sentiment.
